Buckwheat harvests in 2022 have almost increased by 1.5

The harvesting of the main cereal crops in Russia is about to be finished. By the end of October 2022, farmers had already harvested 1.2 mt of buckwheat. The current result is 39% higher than last year's volume. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the year-on-year increase was 335,000 t. Buckwheat yields increased by 14%, averaging 11.3 dt/ha in 49 Russian buckwheat-growing regions.

The Altai region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Kursk, Voronezh and Orel regions accounted for 75% of the gross harvest. The current buckwheat harvest will ensure the loading of processing plants and also increase the possibility of exporting the crop.

At the moment, activities aimed at increasing the sown area under cereal crops, introducing modern technologies and increasing the application of mineral fertilizers are continuing.
