Oilseed cultivation has tripled in the last decade, from 7 to 26 mln. t. No other sector of agriculture has developed at this rate thus far. The primary objective for maintaining and developing oilseeds is to increase production of oilseeds for processing within the country. As for oilseeds, the best option was to return to the introduction of export duties. From this year to the following year, each ton of sunflower is subject to a 50% export duty.
The growing demand for vegetable fats and oils by the population and industry has made a significant contribution to the oil and fats industry. Favorable conditions have been created for the sustainable growth of Russia's vegetable oil production. Thus, domestic enterprises contribute not only to the domestic market, but also to the growth of export volumes.
The manufacture of products derived from vegetable oils - margarines, special fats, milk fat substitutes, cocoa butter substitutes, and equivalents - is another rapidly growing segment of the fat and oil industry.
Russia's oil and fat products are gaining market share in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Russian products are highly regarded in other countries due to their high quality and environmental friendliness. There is a strong possibility of going into Asia's expanding markets, which have recently demonstrated an interest in a diverse range of oil and fats products.
